We transcend the goal of empowerment, simple support and gender balance, to encompass all aspects of women’s presence in business and society at large. Our measure of success lies within reaching an effective and global women’s inclusion and establishing equality as a right before duty.
NAMA launched Irtiqa as a platform to bring businesses in the Global South together to apply gender mainstreaming practices, and enhance uptake of the global Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). The platform fosters understanding of the business and social value of women’s economic inclusion.
Building on a successful pilot initiative in the United Arab Emirates, Irtiqa strives to extend use of the WEPs by closing knowledge gaps in two ways. First, it provides technical assistance to aid the roll-out of new business practices. Second, it catalyses NAMA’s ability to bring people and organizations together to advance women’s inclusion.
Irtiqa provides a platform for diverse South-South partnerships. It encourages private-private dialogue, and backs public- private collaboration as well. All efforts are geared towards gains for women and businesses, recognizing that gender equality is fundamental for societies and economies to thrive.
